Simulation of the Squish FlowSee also: This simulation was done for the geometry of the prototype engine combustion chamber in the Helsinki University of Technology in the Internal Combustion Engines Laboratory. The swirl number is set to 10 at the start of simulation (16° BTDC). Engine speed is 2100 r/min. The transverse (compared to the swirl) velocity component is presented in the picture below. Timing of the pictures from top: 5° BTDC, TDC, 5° ATDC.
